These are some of the books that we found helpful...
- The Shaping of Things to Come by Alan Hirsch and Mike Frost - Examines church in a post-Christendom era and explores why the church must become missional and incarnational if it is to be relevant.
- Exiles by Mike Frost - Explores and challenges Christians to adopt a new lifestyle; a lifestyle of exile.
- Reimagining Evangelism by Rick Richardson. - Rick suggests we need to share the good news of Jesus as travel guides rather than salespeople. He makes evangelism relevant, exciting, incarnational and enjoyable.
- The Secret Message of Jesus by Brian D. McLaren. - Brian confronts the reader with the truly radical nature of Jesus and challenges his followers to adopt this lifestyle.
- An Emergent Theology for Emerging Churches by Ray S. Anderson. - Ray identifies and examines the church at Antioch as a church that has emerged from the church in Jerusalem. These biblically based characteristics are still relevant to us today.
- The End of the World ... As we Know it. by Chuck Smith, Jr. - Chuck explores postmodernism in simple terms and demonstrates why old religious structures are no longer relevant for postmodernists.
Some of us were able to attend the Exilio Course run by Forge. This was beneficial because it allowed us to clarify our thinking and provided opportunity to link with others who we on a similar journey.
As part of the Exilio course we ran a series of studies on Acts using the Ignition Manual 2.0 also produced by Forge.
